Garden clean up Fall Time

Fall is the time I clean up the flower beds around the house. It's been maybe 5 years for some of these to be done. The above is next to the parking lot. I don't know what the purple flower are.

This is the corner of the parking lot. As you can see, I like pinwheels. The long leaf plant is a Christmas cactus and the tall one on the right is a large white lily.

This one is below the kitchen window and so is the next one. Most iris are here.

This one is next to the former septic tank, now rain water storage. Iris and columbine, plus something I don't know are here

Parking lot side, cleaned up nicely. The middle tall plant is an Emperor Dahlia and is supposed to bloom in November. The left side plants are small pink/purple from Mrs. Miura years ago

My sheep family. Cannot locate any ceramic sheep now--must be out of vogue and some of these need replacing. The 4 fat ones represent my sons, two smaller ones are the daughters, then the one we never met, and Henry and me.

This plum tree dropped all its leaves back in August after a heat wave. Now in October there are new leaf buds sprouting--very unusual.

Found this creature on the tomato plant and thought it was dead. Rather ugly, me thinks. Looks like something out of a horror flick. Tenacious thing--hung on to the twig no matter what I did to get it off.

Luna Town formerly Circus Land New Construction

New construction began Sept. 2016, about 5 minutes from us. It used to be called Circus Land, but now Luna (meaning moon) Kobe in Fujiwaradai. New two-story houses with nearly no space between them. There are to be 200 homes completed in the next three years. Prospects for church. (!) There are two or three blocks of completed houses, but no residents yet.

I like that red house, sorta stands out from the regular terra cotta color.

These houses are on the edge of the lot with very steep backyards. I would not want one of these. To build a wall level to the house, then fill it in with dirt would probably cost as much as the house itself. Then again, these may be the cheaper ones.

Church happenings

In September Messrs. Lalman, on the left, and White visited on a Thursday night. There were several visitors from a sister Baptist Church also.

Komi-san turned 22. Such a young'n and tall. Works as a car mechanic/painter

The Kato family visited in September. He were transferred to the Tokyo area. They will be missed.

The Shibata's visited in September and I have her one of my quilts.

Most of our church people

We have a monthly kids' Enjoy English time. September the Yamaguchi boys and Kato girls came with their parents and they had a blast.

She really enjoyed hitting the balloon with the paper fan. It was fun just watching her having a good time.

Everyone lined up for the start of the game. No rules, just hit the balloon up and down the room. We had pizza for a snack and everyone made their own.

Typhoon 21, Sept. 4, 2018

We were directly hit by Typhoon or Jebi today. About 10:30 am the rain started slowly and picked up as time passed. In our area the creeks were nearly overflowing. Rice fields did overflow into the lower levels. Everything was very soggy when the rain finally stopped about 5:00 pm. Other areas in Kansai were hit hard. There were videos of tile blowing off roofs and heading into apartments; trucks and cars were toppled over, one on a bridge. A large tanker ship collided with the over-water bridge that connects the mainland with Kansai International Airport. There were reports of 3,000 people stranded there and seven people lost their lives. It was the worst storm since 1993 they said. These are photos from our immediate area:
