Ark Encounter

We visited the Ark Encounter in KY May 14.  This is the view of the Ark from the bus that takes us from the ticket/parking lot area

We noticed that the majority of people in line for tickets were older, gray-headed folks like us.  Still don't consider myself as being 65 and among the "senior" crowd now   :-)

Surprise! We met the Halsey's there.  They helped us alot at the beginning of our deputation 30 years ago.  It has been several years since we last saw them.  

The view of the park from the top of the Ark.  We had a special tour; the general public is not permitted up here yet.  There are lots of plans for expanding/improving the Ark attractions in the near future.  Currently there's a big Children's park due to open the end of May.

Mother's Day PM

We went to Heritage Baptist Church in Woodbridge, Virginia.   Below, Henry gave a report of our new work and showed our video.  

We reconnected with the Haynes Family.  Have not seen Phyllis, the mom, in years.  So nice to reconnect.

Pastor then proposed the church give us a sizeable amount of money for the new church plant in Kato City.  It was a surprise and a special blessing.  

After church, Pastor, his wife, and parents took us out to dinner at Cracker Barrel.  We talked for a long time.  Then we went to the Ramada Inn that had a room for us.  Very nice.

Welcome home!

We met Pastor and Mrs. Dickens for the first time and stayed in their home at Cross County Baptist Church in Waldorf, Maryland.  They are such giving people and a joy to be around.  We heard lots of stories...

Henry preached in the afternoon service.  

The Dickens have many grandkids and a ton of Legos.  Amazing.

Friday, May 10, Pennsylvania to Virginia

Wednesday, August 8, 2019, Laval, Quebec

This is the Central Baptist Church of Laval in Quebec City, Canada.    We met the pastor when he was a young guy attending FaithWay Baptist in Quebec.  He now pastors this French-speaking church.  

 

Henry preached the message all in French!  Everyone said they understood every thing.   :-)

Monday the Roy's took us to downtown Quebec and we toured the old city.  It's a vibrant place; plenty of people and activity.  We took a ferry ride across the St. Lawrence and got a view from the other shore.

For the morning Eglise Baptiste de Boucherville has supported us for about 30 years.  Last we could remember we were there, we had four little kids.  Pastor Plante is a dynamic person and his joy for the Lord shows.  The church is doing well.

Henry did speak some in French as he has been practicing for weeks.  He was understood :-)  

For the afternoon service we drove a couple of hours to Quebec City area to be in a new church called Eglise Baptiste Saint Augustin.  Here is Henry with Pastor Roy, is  native Canadian and fluent in both English and French.  He and his wife have two lovely teens.  

The pulpit has these wood carvings of a cross and two jars, beautifully done. 

At the Boucherville church we sang the Patch the Pirate song "Rejoice in the Lord" in French.
