New Windows Jan 16, 2012

We have been in our hand-built house for 10 years now.  Over the course of time, several windows have cracked for one reason or another.  Today these broken ones got replaced.
Yeah!  The temp outside was about 6 C, rather chilly, but a clear day.  Mr. Yamashita and his son did the work.  The first two replaced were the last ones broken.  The kitchen window above the sink managed to get really cracked last fall.  Henry taped them so the glass would not fall our.  Lovely view, n'est pa?    Now they are much better!
The one in the dining room has been broken since construction--a BB went through it, we think.  All windows are double-paned or pair glass in Japanese.  The entire unit of the rectangular ones was replaced.    This one had the hole in the left window, upper right.

 The new view.

These two curved windows are in the church area.  The top is the classroom.  That was broken in 2005 by a rock.  The bottom was broken in 2008 during cleaning and repainting the outside.  Both have condensation between the two windows.  We asked the men to clean the undamaged one before replacing the broken one.  Now it looks so nice.  There are three other curved windows that need replacing at a cost of about $350. They are not broken, but condensation is between the windows.   The five replaced today cost about $1000.  Fortunately, our church building fund has enough to cover this cost.
